Is your life today what you pictured a year ago?
I can’t say my life is exactly where I wanted it to be this year compared to last, but growth rarely happens in a straight line. Sometimes progress comes in small steps, sometimes in leaps. For me, the major shifts still need more movement, but I’ve had meaningful wins.
One highlight was sending my self-published romance-suspense novel in for editing. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive—my editor said she couldn’t put it down and even suggested creating a movie trailer as part of the marketing. A recent Zoom call about it made the whole process feel even more exciting.
Looking ahead, I want next year to be about holding people accountable, demanding respect, and embracing my feminine side more fully. Another milestone this year was starting my natural hair journey with comb coils to begin my locs. They say the first three months are the “ugly phase,” but I’ve already received so much support. More importantly, I’m learning to love it for myself—not because others approve.
I’m realizing my beauty isn’t limited to my body. My intellect, humor, and creativity are just as worthy of pride. This year has been about planting seeds, and I’m eager to see how they grow.
